got here we're glad that you're here hit subscribe so you can come here around purpose next time click the little bell and you'll know exactly when a new episode drops because we've got amazing stuff man we've got artists authors filmmakers musicians cosplayers like a whole cast of a comic book like a that's a cosplay cast of a comic book in here just a minute ago yeah absolutely I saw that yeah I'm sane we're here at Megacon 2019 we're wrapping up the show the last day we're hanging out with hanging with live show alumnus the host of the geeks watch tower the host one of the hosts of two men in the mouse the fantasy author above handicap bowler professional wrestler this guy does everything and he does it well I don't know like him very much because of that but I let him sit down because he looks tired he's been doing things well all over Megacon all weekend it's been a busy weekend there's been a busy weekend how you doing thank you very much by the way everybody Kevin J Custer fantasy author responsible for the Ross and Nancy series and wait a minute the card has new stuff yes it does have new stuff why is my car have new stuff I don't know about tell me about what I don't know about um I did so about two year or two ago a year and a half ago yeah my publisher lavish publishing they wanted to do a winter box set so they were like hey Kevin do you have a winter a sir about winter that can go in this box set and I was like I don't have one but let me sit down and so I started writing about like a fantasy setting where it's winter and this book just kind of fell out of me it's it's right here it's winters of El Norah birth I mean it's short it's it's a novella but the rest of us are doing this and he's like it felling out I should know about but it's not yeah so it follows the story what is this it follows a young girl named Elnora she's a beggar orphan on the streets of Chi loom which is the City of Light it's like the pristine perfect society ruled over by the lux Ian order which is like essentially it's the organized religion of this world and it but you know much like most things while the city may be pristine and shiny on the outside into the upper level there are you know as always there's a seedy underbelly and she has been a victim of it it's very dark it's a dark fantasy lots of adult themes there are themes of abuse in it as well so she becomes so she goes from being beggar orphan to being taken as The Apprentice of the dark angel who is the sorcerer who embodies all of the dark magic in the world and this book follows four winters throughout her life so she starts as a child and ends up as a woman and it shows her rising up and through her apprenticeship to the dark angel it shows the rise of the the greatest dark sorceress the world will ever know and it shows how she becomes the heart of the dark angel herself so it's wow yep winters of Elnora birth of the Dark Angel winters of Elnora birth of the Dark Angel and I'm and I'm working on a sequel actually as we speak called them nice yep it's called apprentice of Elnora heir to the Dark Angel see he can write and speak at the same time as we speak he's doing the otherwise falling out of him this was not falling out quite as easily quite as he's now I've been very very busy lately there's been so much going on I'm working I'm working on three books at the same time right now I'm doing the Ross and Andie series is complete but I am actually doing a second saga of it okay so I'm working on that I'm working on the Elnora sequel and I'm working on a new series called the John Merlyn saga which is my first foray into contemporary dark fantasy so yeah a little more challenging Bob you know what not it not as challenging because I'm working within the confines of an already established universe our world our universe I don't have to explain what a car is because everybody knows when a car is I could just say there's a car you know I was gonna say as much as that gives you a structure to bones to build on yes it also gives you confinement gives you a confined space it does I mean I had to figure out how magic works in this universe obviously I have big plans for this universe like I'm doing the so I'm writing John Merlin the way I would write a television series each season he's gonna be there it's going to be put in two volumes he's a modern the modern fantasy or the how do I don't even have a word that without being you know doubled and doubling up the modern modern fantasy writers write there's something that has been altered in the last maybe two decades mm-hmm and that is you know to perform about 20 25 years ago modern fantasy writers the biggest challenge was fitting magic mystery monsters into the modern world and always always always keeping that a secret well mine was so hard to do yeah that about 25 years ago authors just stopped and they're like whenever we do this there's been a moment there's been a change even when you go to like True Blood there's a moment when everybody knows about it because it's just so hard to keep up these big things a secret what are you working are you doing it that way so with with Merlin I'm making an episodic like a television show that I'm also going I have ideas for other series that all exist within the same universe featuring other super-powered individuals and eventually I will bring them all together as my own superhero universe and do a team-up book so that's the idea it's awesome now the cool thing about Merlin is right now I have the first Berlin book is done it's like in the can I'm just making edits on it's called blood ties it's vampires it's sorcerers it's great the second one I'm currently writing is called the disciples of darkness which is where John Merlin goes up against the dark angel of that world oh so I view my books as a multiverse and in every multiverse the one constant is that there is always a Dark Angel and that goes back to me as a professional wrestler which is something I've been doing since I was 17 years old my character is the Dark Angel Vincent Valentine so it's been kind of crossing the streams a little bit that's nice yeah it's a great place to draw inspiration from though yeah okay so I love it went behind the camera there whittier than we are I know yeah she just got us good yeah so but wait when you're not writing your a podcast yeah you're not a podcaster a podcaster is a hobbyist that just podcast and they like hey me and my bros are in my basement you have you have multiple podcasts that you put together one of which is one of the most popular Disney podcasts out there and I did I looked it up I'm telling you the truth it's when it comes out it doesn't over so you can't do all the time when you like do it and I feel terrible about that because I used you buddy and they used to be it used to be every week non-stop you know never missed a week and then you know I started my own business I say in life kind of you know I started putting books out life kind of got in the way and I'm really trying very very hard to get two men in the mouths of Walt Disney World podcast back up to where it was where it could come out at least two to three times a month and of course when it comes out they go they want it yeah yeah and I love doing it and I'm like Mike owes Peter mandolin I we have a great time doing it we've always said like we can do this forever they'd never run out of things to talk about I mean he's up in Jersey I moved down here to Orlando I'm right here but the parks I love it and I love I love bringing the and sharing my passion for theme parks and Walt Disney World with our fans who we call the mousers they and they've always been so wonderful and supportive I just feel so bad that I haven't been able to provide you know no absolutely nice tarted about five podcasts at the same time when I started the white dragon podcast network about 5 years ago we had a wrestling podcast we had we had with Disney show we had a sports show which I wasn't on but we had to move our Dave Dave Swan mykos on the geek watchtower he had one called silver screen spoilers which is all about movie reviews and the one that he or the other ones they would all get like 5 downloads or something like that the first day we put two men in the mouse up the next day I looked and I was like a copy I'm like we got 50 downloads last night on one episode and he was like what and then it just the the snowball kept rolling until we got up to our best month we had 40,000 downloads for two minute amounts amazing we've interviewed the voice of goofy twice actually just had the pleasure sitting down with him to talk about the Kingdom Hearts series awesome we had a wonderful interview of him and I a bill farmer he's a truly amazing wonderful individual who I'm I'm blessed to have been able to speak to you twice and yeah I mean it's it's two men in the mouse as a dream come true for me because it gives me the opportunity to share my passion for something that I've loved since I was a child with other people and and the fact that people enjoy it is just a huge bonus so it is because that's what art is all about you're gonna write yeah you don't have a choice yeah it's not what you do it's who you are yep yeah you're gonna want to talk about Disney you're gonna want to talk about you're passionate about DC and movies and television you're passionate about these things you love storytelling yeah so you're gonna talk about him no matter what absolutely success in doing so that's like the hugest big cherry on top absolutely amazing yeah yeah well I now I've added yet another hat onto my head after five years of inactivity I've gone back to the world of professional wrestling with UWA elite which is a wrestling territory up in New Jersey run by my friend Dave Swan who Coast geek watchtower he he brought me back I'm flying up to New Jersey once a month to you know compete in the ring again Wow so being able to step into the dark angel Vincent Valentine again being able to be that character again being able performing from a live crowd again it's a rush that yeah I would say I was so nervous the first time we went out there I had this whole promo in my head planned out from beginning to end I never script myself and I scripted myself for that one but I hit the ring and so nervous stood up suddenly I was the character again the script went out of my head and I just flew off the cuff and cut a three-minute promo that knew there was no stumbling there were no arms or us it was just it was I was him again and he's a much DS a different side of me and so it just it felt it was like putting on that old that old jacket again and it fits like a glove you know and you know a lot of folks especially we talk a lot you and I together and the arts yes well there's TV movies books whatever the arts in general I don't think a lot of people understand what an artform wrestling is it's athleticism but it's also an art it's storytelling on a in an athletic yes well that is hard to do professional wrestling is the single most prolific theatrical art form I've ever and I've done like I've been in I've done film I've done TV I've done you know stage I've done a lot of stage but wrestling is my my first love of performing I like the UWA elite is such amazing production value I mean if you've never checked it out you have to there's really calm they've got the UWA leave that worked out through the internet yeah thanks to you yeah III was not growing up a huge wrestling fan but as an adult in my middle age I started checking out some different things so if people would talk to me or we have people on the show or whatever that would wrestle that I'll check it out I'll look it is an amazing art form there's there's there's drama there's there's many details in the storytelling there's comedy and it's all wrapped up as you're trying to do these amazing athletic things for the show you know what it's funny whether whether it's winners of Ellen or whether it's rastaman the Rossoneri series whatever I write combat people really seem to like it they're like wow your fight scenes pop you know I really like reading your fight scenes well that's because of wrestling I learned how to tell a story through combat I learned how to take an audience the ups and the downs of back and forth you know combat physically yeah exactly and so like so when I write a fight scene you know whether it be fantastical or more down-to-earth or magical or whatnot I actually get up and like I work it out to myself where like okay you see Kevin's right and he's all of a sudden he's like looking weak no I actually get up I can actually get up and I'm like okay he's gonna throw this punch he's gonna go you know like and I actually like like work out the logistics of how it will work because I booked it like in my head like it's a wrestling match well it helps too because you can't get it wrong yeah right well you can get it wrong I mean when you're doing that though it's you have to get it wrong yeah yeah you know what it would be like if you had gotten it wrong you get hit in the head with something of course it's that idea yes all right guys we have to wrap it up she's gonna flash that card and you know behind the camera here and Kevin and I are getting used to this they do it to us on the radio right they do it to us on the camera mm-hmm whenever you get a good conversation going all of a sudden they're like
