Episode 20 | Marketing Matters | Should you use every social media site

– Hi, I’m Sally Parker and welcome to my blog, Marketing Matters. And in this week’s episode,
I’m going to answer a question that I get asked all the time and that question is should I
be on every social media site? And my answer is no. You need to consider the sites that have your audience
present and engaging on. If we try and cover every single site, often the message is diluted, often it’s taken up a lot of our time, and as business owners and
managers and employees, we don’t have all that amount of time. So it’s about considering
where your customers are and where they are most likely
to engage with your content. So yes, Facebook might
have the biggest audience at the moment but if your
customers are on Facebook but not in the mindset to
buy your product or service, then why would you communicate on there? You might be better at
looking at LinkedIn, where it’s the same customer potentially, but they are engaged at that
moment in a work capacity and happy to engage and read the content that you’re producing. We don’t have this endless
amount of time in our lives so we need to think about what’s going to really work for us and what we can add value to. So for example, for us at Pick & Mix, LinkedIn really is where the
majority of customers are and where they are
happy to read and engage in this type of information,
whilst Instagram, we do have customers on Instagram, but they’re very much in a
different type of business and they prefer much more creative content to this small, factual, how-to content. So in answer to that question, I say no. Focus on what’s important
and where your customers are and where they are most likely
to engage with your content before starting to put content out across every single platform, which is just gonna be
really hard to manage. I hope that’s been helpful. If you have any questions and would like some help to find out where your customers are online and want some tips as to how
you could potentially do that or if you want our help to do that, please get in touch with
us at Pick & Mix Marketing. Otherwise, please head over
to our YouTube channel, where you’ll see lots
more videos like this one and hopefully it will help you progress your social media
forward for your business. So thanks for watching and I’ll see you in the next video.
