Household Incomes Rising: Facebook Live with President Obama

The President: Hey, everybody. This is Barack Obama. I’ve got my chief economist, Jason Furman, here. I want to talk a little bit about what’s been happening with the economy over the last year, and I’ve got a little handy chart. The census did a report that they just issued today, and it gives you a sense of what has been happening for American families over the last year. And one of the biggest highlights is that incomes went up 5.2 percent. This is actually the largest jump, year over year, in incomes since 1968, and the good news is that it went up for everybody, all income groups, except…

That’s because about half of that debt or $3.7 trillion is rated Triple-B, the lowest rating investment-grade debt can receive. And some are worried this debt isn’t as safe as the ratings suggest. Companies that make well-known products like Campbell’s Chicken Soup and Elmer’s Glue have had debt rated Triple-B. Analysts say the debt could be a mess in the making especially if the economy enters…

    Social Media: Motive & Balance

Rob McClendon: Well, since the beginning of civilization, the best technology tends to win out. Sometimes it can take a while, but eventually even late adopters come around to doing things differently. And one place where that has become increasingly evident is with social media and the classroom. Joining me now with more is our new social media coordinator and our same old Courtney Maye. Courtney Maye: Thank you, Rob. Well, when it comes to social media forums, every generation has a different opinion. Yet more than 50 percent of all Americans are on a social networking site. Sounds like a lot, but when you compare that statistic to the…
